Joe Boggs (1939-2016)
Joe Boggs loved people. The founder and late CEO of Joe Boggs and Associates, Inc., never met a stranger, and treated everyone like family. Clients will remember Joe as an honest, fair man who always had a smile on his face and was loved by many (and if you didn’t like him, he would make you like him).
Joe started the company in 1986, in part to enable small business owners to remain compliant without the additional cost of extra staff. When CDL requirements changed, Joe developed audio and educational resources to help truck drivers succeed in the new system. He grew a business entirely focused on helping others do their business easier. Joe never took advantage of anyone, and valued his company’s good name.
Professionally, Joe worked several years for Overnite Transportation before establishing Joe Boggs and Associates. Trusted in the industry, he also served on the board of the West Virginia Trucking Association and DATIA.
Out of the office, Joe was a fixture in the drag racing industry. Highly successful in the late 60’s through early 80’s, Joe competed nationally in the top fuel dragster circuit, winning the American Hot Rod Association Top Fuel World Championship in 1967 with partner Jim Hundley. Other partners through the years included Rodger Hamrick, Don Casto, and Bob Farley. After retiring, Joe still enjoyed attending events, and a quick google search reveals the respect and admiration fans of the sport still hold for Joe and his role in drag racing history.
Most importantly, Joe was a man who loved and cherished Linda, his wife of 57 years, and his family--son Ritchie and wife Nikki, granddaughter MacKayla Mena and husband Josh, and grandson Parker. He is greatly missed by them, his golfing buddies, and the many friends and associates who were privileged to know Joe.
